Message from our leadership

Event Chair

As the 2024 chair of the CEOs Against Cancer Greater Philadelphia Chapter, I am proud to lead our regional leaders in improving the lives of cancer patients and their families. Today I ask you to join us as a united force against all cancers through your participation in the 10th anniversary of Advancing the Breakthrough on October 18, 2024. This intimate cocktail event, hosted at the Cencora Headquarters in Conshohocken, PA, will feature extraordinary cuisine, lively entertainment, and the opportunity to support the American Cancer Society AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Philadelphia.

Hope Lodge provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Proceeds from this year’s Advancing the Breakthrough event directly support the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Philadelphia, PA.

The Philadelphia Hope Lodge offers 37 guest rooms and serves patients from across our region and across the country who are being treated at one of our Philadelphia Area health systems. In 2023, the Lodge served 1,226 guests, provided 15,699 nights of lodging, and saved patients and their families $1.7M+ in lodging costs. The American Cancer Society and CEOs Against Cancer are committed to supporting the Philadelphia Hope Lodge and serving patients and their families in the Philadelphia area.

While we offer a range of benefits to your company and your employees for supporting Advancing the Breakthrough, the most significant reward is knowing that you are helping people facing cancer and providing their caregivers with a comfortable place to stay during treatment. Your support will reduce financial strain, make treatment more accessible, and improve the quality of life for thousands of cancer patients each year.

Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Please join us to fund the Philadelphia Hope Lodge.

These communities provide comfortable guest suites with private baths, as well as inviting spaces with all the comforts of home, including a communal kitchen, dining area, laundry rooms, and places to gather or find a quiet respite – all at no cost to guests.

Hope Lodge guests don’t just find a place to stay – they find a community of support and an emotional connection with others facing the same journey.
